Paper Description
This paper examines educational uses of digital technologies, with an emphasis on learning through electronic networks, including social media. The paper explores evolving theoretical shifts and policy directions alongside topical issues and practical perspectives.

Online Support
This paper is fully online, with all teaching in Moodle via panopto, discussion forums and individual/group feedback. Additional resources are shared via Twitter and the convenor is available for appointments via phone or Zoom (or in person where a student is on campus).
Students will need regular and reliable access to the Internet and a computer, for daily access to the class where possible. It is advisable to have a back-up plan for access if the primary connection/computer fails at any stage in the trimester.
The paper convenor will reply to all Moodle communications within 12-24 hours during weekdays, and is an active participant in all class discussions.
Workload
This paper has a credit value of 15 points, likely to require around 150 hours of work during the trimester, including:
- Participating regularly in discussion within Moodle.
- Experimenting with social media.
- Documenting progress in the social media journal.
- Reading academic literature, from the readings list and beyond.
- Finding and reflecting upon research, media reports, and digital resources.
- Carrying out research for assignments.
- Experimenting with digital tools.
